Chief Master Sergeant PATRICK A. TAYLOR

Chief Master Sergeant Patrick A. Taylor is the group senior enlisted leader for the 182nd Maintenance Group, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois. He is responsible for the professional development and proper utilization of the group’s enlisted force working in concert with other enlisted leaders such as squadron superintendents, squadron career enlisted managers and first sergeants to oversee the readiness, training, health, morale, welfare and quality of life of assigned personnel.

Chief Taylor entered the active duty Air Force in January 1999, graduating Aircraft Maintenance Technician technical school in August 1999. He served on active duty for eight years, transitioning to the Reserve component in 2007 and finally joining the Illinois National Guard in 2015. During his career, the chief was stationed at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina, and Peoria, Illinois, with his entire maintenance career working on the C-130 Hercules aircraft. The chief started in the repair and reclamation section, where he performed heavy maintenance and worked on the landing gears and flight control systems. In 2008, the chief transferred to the flight line as a dedicated crew chief, where he managed daily maintenance and traveled the world with his aircraft, ensuring it was mission ready. Near the end of his time at Pope AFB, he was selected as the quality assurance superintendent, where he provided quality oversight for the maintenance group during a transition to the Air Force Inspection System while the base was transitioning from the Reserves to the U.S. Army. Finally, the chief transferred to the 182nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Illinois Air National Guard, as an expediter.

Chief Taylor has deployed to the Middle East, Europe, South America and Asia in support of contingency operations and other operations such as Cope India and Corenet Oak. He has served in roles including active duty Airman, military technician and drill status guardsman. In his civilian capacity, Chief Taylor is employed by the Defense Contract Management Agency as a quality assurance specialist, where he provides contract and technical oversight of a major defense contractor supporting Department of Defense and NASA acquisition needs. Prior to his current position, the chief master sergeant was a production superintendent, 182nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois.
