Chief Master Sergeant JEFFREY W. YEMM

Chief Master Sgt. Jeffrey W. Yemm is the superintendent of the 182nd Force Support Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, in Peoria, Ill. As the superintendent, he is responsible for managing the functions and activities associated with personnel, education and training, and manpower and organization.

Chief Yemm’s military career started in 1986 when he enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard and was assigned to the 182nd Weapons System Security Flight. His extensive background in antiterrorism, physical security and law enforcement culminated in his selection as the 182nd Security Forces Squadron manager and the 182nd Airlift Wing antiterrorism officer. His leadership was instrumental to the squadron’s history of superior performance. During his tenure, the 182nd Security Forces Squadron attained an unprecedented “Outstanding” rating on two operational readiness inspections and one consolidated unit compliance inspection. In 2005, he was asked by Headquarters, Air Mobility Command’s Inspector General office to augment their command inspection team. From May 2005 to November 2015, Chief Yemm conducted 36 command-level inspections that included unit effectiveness inspections, unit compliance inspections, operational readiness inspections and nuclear operational readiness inspections.

Chief Yemm spearheaded the inclusion of U.S. Air Force Security Forces into the Illinois National Guard Quick Reaction Force and formed the Illinois Air National Guard Response Force Working Group. He transferred to the 182nd Force Support Squadron to serve as the superintendent in December 2015 and simultaneously served as the 182nd Mission Support Group superintendent until February 2017. Prior to his current position, the chief served as the manager of the 182nd Security Forces Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Ill.
