COLONEL CORY K. REID

Col. Cory K. Reid is the commander of the 182nd Mission Support Group, Peoria Air National Guard Base, Ill. He is responsible for leading and supervising the activities of more than 550 military and civilian personnel. His seven subordinate units are responsible for providing facilities and infrastructure, communications, engineering, emergency management, security and law enforcement, services, human resources, transportation, supply, aerial port activities, combat communications, band, logistics and contracting programs in support of the 182nd Airlift Wing’s federal and state missions.

Col. Reid began his military career in 1988 and served four years as an enlisted member. He was selected for commissioning in 1992. He served as deputy of support for Task Force South during the 1993 Mississippi floods. In 2003, Col. Reid served as executive officer of the 486th Expeditionary Operations Group during Operation Iraqi Freedom while deployed to the Southwest Asia theatre of operation. In 2005, he deployed to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, where he served as the C-130 Hercules expeditionary aircraft maintenance unit commander and was responsible for the forward deployment of C-130 maintenance activities at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan.

Col. Reid has served in many capacities throughout his career including director of the Emergency Operations Center and management representative for state and federal labor relations. He has participated in broad missions such as Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, detainee movement operations, state active duty and the National Guard State Partnership Program with Poland. Prior to his current position, the colonel was the commander of the 182nd Maintenance Group, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Ill.
