CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT CHRISTOPHER R. JONES

Chief Master Sgt. Christopher R. Jones is a group superintendent with the 182nd Mission Support Group in Peoria, Ill. He serves as the principal advisor to the group commander on matters of health, welfare and morale, professional development and the effective utilization of the more than 550 enlisted personnel assigned to the group.

Chief Jones began his military career in 1996 by enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard as a security policeman. He was selected to attend the rigorous Air Mobility Command Phoenix Raven Qualification Course in 2001, subsequently becoming a subject matter expert on tactical and operational force protection in high terrorist and criminal threat conditions. During the course of his career, Chief Jones has completed more than 20 Phoenix Raven missions and six deployments, to include mobilizations to Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, North Africa, South Africa and a host of others locales. His duties and responsibilities have included installation entry controller, internal response team leader, squad leader, flight chief, operations superintendent and group superintendent.

Chief Jones has supervised more 60 personnel responsible for the force protection security of mission assets and personnel in addition to leading and advising hundreds more in mission support operations. His career progression has afforded him opportunities for leadership and engagement at all levels of multiple organizations. In his civilian capacity, Chief Jones is employed by the Illinois Department of Military Affairs assigned to the 182nd Civil Engineer Squadron, where he serves as the wing electrician. Prior to his current position, the chief served as the operations superintendent with the 182nd Security Forces Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Ill.
