Lieutenant Colonel BOBBI M. HERZ

Lt. Col. Bobbi M. Herz is the commander of the 182nd Comptroller Flight in Peoria, Illinois. As the wing comptroller, she is the key advisor to the wing commander on all fiscal matters.

Lt. Col. Herz enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard in January 1988 as a production control specialist. In 1993, she earned her commission through the Academy of Military Science and then graduated from the Defense Equal Opportunity Institute. Since then, she has served in duties and responsibilities such as social action officer, chief of social actions, state equal employment manager and wing financial manger in duty locations including Peoria, Illinois; Springfield, Illinois; and Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany.

Lt. Col. Herz is an established financial management leader in the National Guard and has worked on joint committees focusing on fiscal stewardship. She is the lead instructor for the Air National Guard Comptroller course and was one of the initial comptrollers who developed the course in 2004. She has instructed and trained hundreds of comptrollers, U.S. property and fiscal officers and other senior financial leaders. She has also been a member of the Comptroller Advisory Board since 2015, where she directly assists the ANG director of Financial Management with ensuring fiscal stewardship and accountability across the ANG. In 2021, she assisted the ANG Financial Management office with Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursements, ensuring millions of dollars were reimbursed across the ANG. Prior to her current position, the lieutenant colonel was the base comptroller, 182nd Comptroller Flight, Peoria, Illinois.
