Major KATHY J. “KATE” GUALDONI

Maj. Kathy J. Gualdoni is the commander of the 182nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Peoria, Illinois. She is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and managing all logistics support activities for the 182nd Airlift Wing. This includes the areas of cargo movement, air transportation, logistics plans, vehicle maintenance and management, ground transportation, fuels management and material management. She provides the overall management of personnel to ensure the squadron possesses the logistics capabilities needed to meet the needs of the wing’s readiness requirements.

Maj. Gualdoni began her military career in March 1997 by enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard as an information management specialist while attending college. In October 1999, she was hired as a dual-status federal technician and served in numerous capacities throughout the 182nd Communications Flight. She was the chief of standardization and evaluation and achieved the rank of senior master sergeant before obtaining her commission as an Air Force officer in December 2011. In September 2012, she graduated from logistics readiness officer training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. She served as the 182nd Airlift Wing installation deployment officer before being appointed as the Logistics Readiness Squadron commander in September 2016. Since her appointment as the commander, Maj. Gualdoni has successfully led the second largest and most diverse squadron on the installation through numerous deployments, inspections and exercises.

Maj. Gualdoni is appointed as assistant to the U.S. Property and Fiscal Officer for Property and maintains supply warehouse inventory control of 74,000 items with a 99.89 percent accuracy rate. She has overseen the deployment operations of wing personnel and cargo deployment processes. In 2017, her efforts directly contributed to the wing’s ratings of “Highly Effective” and “Effective” resulting from the Air Mobility Command Inspector General Unit Effectiveness Inspection. In 2020, she directed logistics support in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and the 182nd Airlift Wing’s longest domestic operations mission. In 2021, she deployed to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Springfield, Illinois, as the lead logistics officer for the mass vaccination planning branch, where she supported emergency response operations and was instrumental in ensuring the health and safety of Illinois citizens. Prior to her current position, the major was the installation deployment officer, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois.
