Lt. Col. Randy D. Fasig is the commander of the 182nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois. He leads the personnel responsible for supporting Peoria’s C-130 Hercules aerospace equipment sustainment and operations.
Lt. Col. Fasig began his military career as a security forces specialist in 2001 before selection for navigator training by the 169th Airlift Squadron in 2007. Lt Col. Fasig transitioned to fulltime military service in 2013 and quickly progressed through upgrade training as a lead navigator/mission commander, instructor navigator and evaluator navigator in the C-130H Hercules while serving in roles including chief of current operations, tactics officer and wing operations security (OPSEC) manager.
Lt. Col. Fasig brings extensive tactical airlift experience from seven deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Freedom's Sentinel and Inherent Resolve. Most recently, he led a deployed team to USAFRICOM as the 75th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron commander. He has played key roles in wing operations, including 182nd Airlift Wing deployed forces commander for the U.S. European Command State Partnership Program – Poland, Operation Capitol Response airlift team lead and participation in Operation Coronet Oak. Prior to his current position, the lieutenant colonel was the commander of the 182nd Operations Support Squadron, Peoria, Ill.
