Lieutenant Colonel RANDY D. FASIG

Lt. Col. Randy D. Fasig is the commander of the 182nd Operations Support Squadron, Peoria Air National Guard Base, Peoria, Illinois. He commands the majority of the 182d Operations Group fulltime staff providing training, tactics and mission planning, current operations, intelligence, aircrew flight equipment, airfield management and aviation resource management support.

Lt. Col. Fasig began his military career in 2001 by enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard as a security forces specialist. In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield and was also selected for navigator training by the 169th Airlift Squadron. He graduated from undergraduate navigator training at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, in 2009. Lt Col. Fasig served as a drill-status guardsman until 2013, when he transitioned to fulltime military service. Lt. Col. Fasig quickly progressed through upgrade training as a lead navigator/mission commander, instructor navigator and evaluator navigator in the C-130H Hercules while serving in roles including chief of current operations, tactics Officer and wing OPSEC manager.

Lt. Col. Fasig brings extensive tactical airlift experience from six deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Freedom's Sentinel and Inherent Resolve. He played key roles in wing operations, including 182nd Airlift Wing deployed forces commander for the U.S. European Command State Partnership Program – Poland, Operation Capitol Response airlift team lead and participation in Operation Coronet Oak. Prior to his current position, the lieutenant colonel was the chief of current operations and assistant director of operations for the 169th Airlift Squadron, Peoria, Illinois.
