Chief Master Sgt. Patrick L. Hyde is a component maintenance flight superintendent for the 182nd Maintenance Squadron, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois. He advises the maintenance squadron commander on technical matters, leads a mission-focused maintenance effort and manages resources necessary to accomplish the mission. He also provides necessary administration to manage assigned responsibilities and controls maintenance through various element leaders and section chiefs.
Chief Hyde began his military career in 1987 by enlisting in the Illinois Air National Guard’s 182nd Tactical Air Support Group as an aircraft egress systems mechanic working on the OA-37 Dragonfly aircraft. He was selected for a fulltime position in January 1990 with the 182nd Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, where he continued to serve as an egress mechanic maintaining F-16A/B Fighting Falcon aircraft until April 1995. As a result of mission change and a reduction-in-force, Chief Hyde was reassigned to the 182nd Maintenance Squadron in May 1995, where he served in roles including aircraft structural maintenance specialist and shop NCO in charge. In November 2007, Chief Hyde was selected as the fabrication element supervisor, where he oversaw the aircraft structural maintenance shop, metals technology, non-destructive inspection and the survival equipment maintenance shop. In October 2010, Chief Hyde was reassigned to the aircraft inspection element and oversaw the aircraft inspection and aerospace repair sections. In this role, he planned, scheduled and coordinated the work requirements for 13 separate work centers on a daily basis to meet projected timelines for isochronal inspections and home station checks for assigned or transient C-130H Hercules aircraft.
In 2003, Chief Hyde was mobilized in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, where he served as an aircraft structural maintenance specialist for the 486th Air Expeditionary Wing, Southwest Asia. In 2007, Chief Hyde was mobilized to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, as an aircraft structural maintenance specialist for the 455th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-130 Hercules aircraft maintenance unit. Prior to his current position, the chief master sergeant was an aerospace maintenance supervisor, 182nd Maintenance Squadron, Peoria, Illinois.
