Lt. Col. Thomas S. Dwyer is the commander of the 182nd Comptroller Flight, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois. He is responsible for the team of Airmen who provide fiscally responsible resource management, auditable and timely financial services, and actionable decision support enabling the wing and subordinate unit commanders and members they lead to accomplish the variety of mission sets with which they are tasked.
Lt. Col. Dwyer began his military career in July 1992, enlisting in 182nd Services Flight of the Illinois Air National Guard. He completed initial active-duty training in June 1993 and served as a drill status guardsman cook. While enlisted, he cross trained to the Information Management career field and served as an Active Guard Reservist in the 182nd Mission Support Flight and the 182nd Communications Flight, achieving the rank of technical sergeant. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University, he was selected to serve as Services officer in 182nd Services Flight.
Lt. Col. Dwyer was commissioned as a second lieutenant in April 2001 and was appointed 182nd Services Flight commander in January 2003. In July 2004 he moved to 182nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. From there, he transferred to the 182nd Comptroller Flight in April 2006 as a Drill Status Guardsman and the Title 32 Dual Status Technician budget officer. He assumed command of the 182nd Comptroller Flight in July 2024. Prior to his current position, the lieutenant colonel was a budget officer with the 182nd Comptroller Flight in Peoria, Illinois.
