Updated Unemployment Information for Furloughed Technicians Published Oct. 3, 2013 Peoria, Ill. -- Reference the attached SF8. On the form you will notice it says to expedite their claim they need to take the SF8, Social Security Card, SF50 (separation or non-pay status), LES, or similar documents that shows they were employed. HRO confirmed they can't produce an SF50 for this. They recommend taking the attached SF8, LES and the signed furlough notice. Also, the 800 number listed below is overwhelmed and most people can't get through but to keep trying. Below is information from Chief Adams at HRO: http://www.ides.illinois.gov/default.aspx is the website which states the following: Federal Government Shutdown Update October 1, 2013 - Presuming this shutdown lasts less than one week: Current unemployment insurance claimants: There are no changes to your schedule. Your benefits will be paid presuming you remain eligible. Continue to certify for benefits. Federal civilian employees: If you choose to apply for unemployment insurance benefits, you must do so by calling (800) 244-5631. That is the only way your application can be considered. Your application cannot be completed at www.ides.illinois.gov, nor can it be completed at an IDES office. Because federal officials are uncertain if IDES will have access to your wage data, please be prepared to identify how much wages you received in each of the last five completed quarters. As before, all eligible individuals must wait one week after they apply before receiving benefit payments. Also, should federal officials retroactively pay you for the time that you were on furlough, you will be required to repay the unemployment insurance benefits that you received. Civilian contractors working for the federal government and state employees paid for with federal funds: If you choose to apply for unemployment insurance benefits, you should go to www.ides.illinois.gov. If you go to an IDES location, you will be directed to a computer. Please be prepared to identify how much wages you received in each of the last five completed quarters of the past year.
