First, a reminder that for open applications for the Human Resource Advisor position, please contact Maj. Grindel or me if interested.

Happy Labor Day, Sept. 5
Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late 19th century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity and well-being.

Happy Patriot Day, Sept. 11
Patriot Day on Sept. 11 honors the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Each year, Americans dedicate this day to remembering those who died and the first responders who risked their own lives to save others.

Mentoring
I encourage you to pause for a moment during September RSD and take time to start dialog with other Airmen. Be deliberate and see who’s in need of a mentor. Coach them and lead them to our 182nd Airlift Wing SharePoint mentoring page. Please keep in mind, HRA will conduct a mentoring briefing in your work area upon request.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) Core Competency Courses
There are no DEIA courses scheduled this month for the base populous. Note: Upon request HRA can come over to your squadron to facilitate DEIA courses.

Joint Diversity Executive Council Sub-Committee (JDEC)
The JDEC consist of 15 members from the 182nd Airlift Wing—a representation of the entire base populous—and aims to spearhead initiatives to improve human relations and bring togetherness regarding DEIA. Please see the HRA/JDEC section of the SharePoint to learn more. If you have any innovative ideas please don’t hesitate to contact your HRA or a JDEC member.

More information regarding courses can be found on the 182nd HRA page found in the virtual newsletter or Wing SharePoint.
