182nd Airlift Wing members salute generations past
A U.S. Armed Forces veteran receives an embrace from a supporter after returning home from the inaugural Greater Peoria Honor Flight at the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport in Peoria, Ill., June 4, 2013. American war veterans and their volunteer guardians were flown from Peoria to Washington, D.C., in order to see their respective memorials in person before age and disability would make it impossible to do so later. That evening, members of the Illinois Air National Guard’s 182nd Airlift Wing and other current service members gathered at the airport terminal in uniform to personally welcome the veterans home and honor their service.
